A Day of Tournaments

Dates: September 8-10, 2023. This is a weekend equestrian event. The site opens Friday at 5 pm closes Sunday at noon.

Location: Tioga County Fairgrounds, 1 W. Main St., Owego NY 13827

Description: A three-day weekend centered around medieval equestrian games (BYOH – Bring Your Own Horse!) And of course, there will be plenty of horse-play for kids and the young at heart!

Horses aren’t your thing? We also have marshals and plenty of space for other activities such as heavy fighting, fencing, thrown weapons, target archery, A&S, and some horse-themed youth activities.

Equestrian Activities:
• Kingdom Equestrian Champs (run by current EQ Champions Baron Rhion Elandris of Glyndyfrdwy and Mistress Ysabeau Tiercelin, THL Gesa von Wellenstein).
How to ride before a prince.
• Equestrian games.
• Equestrian games for those not entering champs.
• Mounted archery clinic.
• Jousting and crest demonstration (marshal: Mistress Ysabeau Tiercelin ).
• Equestrian and A&S displays coordinated by Elska and Asteriya.

Other Activities:
• Youth: Thematic youth activities will include making a stick horse and taking the new steed onto a youth jousting field. Weather permitting, water balloon targets may be involved! Activities will be run by Meadhbh.
• Heavy: A tournament and some melee. Marshal: John the Pell.
• Fencing: Marshal: Matteo Keary
• Thrown weapons: Amalie Reinhardt, Gytha Oggsdottir.
• Target Archery: novelty equestrian-themed ranges.
• Bardic Circle: Join us Saturday evening around the bonfire. The site is damp (but do not go into the park with an open container).

• A dayboard will be served Saturday. Let us know if you have any dietary concerns.
• There will be coffee and tea available Saturday and Sunday morning.
• There is a grocery store across from the site and numerous local restaurants.
• Vendors: Large indoor space available / no fee / sign up with the autocrat.

Non-member: $25, Member: $20, Children ages 5-17: free.
*Dayboard is included Saturday.

Camping: $4 per person per night; electric and water hookup $75 weekend (no showers).

Horses amenities: 22 Stalls available at $25 each; pre-order: Hay square bale & shavings at $8 per bale.

Located at the Elm St. entrance ( Do not use main the entrance to Melvin Park). Car parking is on the left before fence. ( Do not park in school parking lot on right, violators will be towed).

All attendees must check in and register before entering the site. (A Horse waiver must be signed before entry).

Horses must have up-to-date coggins, rabies, and health certification.

Limitations on site use:
• Alcohol: damp site (Owego has open container laws. We have approval only for the site area. Do not drink in Marvin Park, past the sidewalk in front of buildings.)
• Open flame: yes.
• Handicapped/wheelchair accessibility: yes, except for grandstand.
• Pets: yes. Dogs on leash (please clean up after them, must have current rabies certification).
• Weapons: NO FIREARMS but all other weapons are allowed.

Make you best route to NY-17/86 to Owego and take exit 64 toward NY-96/Owego/Ithaca. From the west turn left onto NY 96/South Side Dr. 0.4 mi., From the east continue onto rte. 434 Access Rd. 0.3mi., turn right onto South Side Dr. 0.2 mi.

Continue from both directions: turn left onto Court St. bridge, 4 mi., turn left onto Main St. 150 ft., continue straight to stay on Main St. 0.2 mi. Turn right onto McMaster St. 400 ft., turn left onto Elm St. go to end of st., car parking is on the left before a fence. Registration is at gate on right. Do not park on right in school parking lot.

Everyone must register and check in and sign a horse waiver before entering the site. Those with horses will be directed where to unload.

Friday September 8th
3pm site opens.
Evening: camping/hang out around the fire.

Saturday September 9th
8am coffee/ tea station open.

Equestrian Activities
9am equestrian inspections and authorizations followed by a general demonstration.
10am equestrian games.
1pm Ride Before Their Majesties.
3:30pm Mounted Archery Competition in memory of Lord Ronan.
3:50pm memorial for Lord Ronan.

Archery: Range open from 11am-4pm, with likely a break for lunch.

Thrown weapons: 10:30am-3:30pm with a break for lunch.

Heavy fighting: 11:30am-? inpections and qualifications.

Fencing: 11:30am-? Garnet and Shell Tournament.

Dayboard served 11am-3pm.

Supervised youth activities 11am-1pm.

A&S Display: most of the day.

Court: 5pm.

Dinner: 6:30ish (30 min. after court ends, reservation required)

Evening: bardic circle / drumming.

Sunday September 10th
8-10am coffee/tea station open.
10am teardown.
Noon site closes.
