Master Robert serves as Dominion herald, webminister, and media liaison, as well as an archery marshal. He has been kingdom brewing champion as well as the kingdom arts & sciences champion.
His embroidered leather shoes were selected for the kingdom’s Pennsic XLIX A&S War Point competition. Details about this project are posted at Academia.edu.

In 2018 Robert entered the Kingdom Arts & Sciences Championship and won with an entry called “10th-Century Turnshoes on Bone Ice Skates.”

Robert was inducted into the order of the Golden Alce for archery-related activities a couple of years ago and in 2017 he was made a Companion of the Sycamore, and then in early 2019 into the Order of the Fleur d’Æthelemearc for shoe making and brewing. In late 2019 he received a Laurel writ as well, and was elevated in February, 2020. In 2025 he was made a companion of the Golden Stirrup for authenticity in archery, especially at the Pennsic Period Shoot. Inducted into the Order of the Scarlet Guard for archery service in 2026.
Robert joined the SCA in 1985 while a college student, participated for a number of years as a heavy-weapons fighter, then moved to California for a decade. Now that he’s back, he has taken up combat archery with a crossbow; target archery with a fairly heavy longbow and homemade crossbow; brewing (especially his Worts of the Roses: Lancastrian Red and Yorkist White), as well as making shoes. In summary: shoes, brews, and yews.
