Dark Ages Skóla

Hosted by Dominion of Myrkfaelinn September 23, 2017

NOTE: Site change, see below.

The Norse of Myrkfaelinn are pleased to invite you to the Dark Ages Skóla, which will be held on September 23rd, 2017. The Skóla will take place at the First Presbyterian Church of Ithaca, located at 315 N. Cayuga Street, Ithaca, NY 14850. The site will open at 9:00am and close at 6pm. Classes will begin at 10:00am and continue until at least 4:00pm. The site is handicapped accessible and has plenty of parking.

We are anticipating a variety of classes, from Iron Age Clothing, Byzantine Clothing, Celtic Food, Carolingian Military History to Anglo-Saxon Art! If you have a class that you would like to teach, please contact the Class Coordinator, Elska á Fjárfella at susanverberg AT gmail DOT com, and include "Dark Ages" in the subject line. We intend to host a silent auction split between the Dominions' coffers and a Teacher's Travel Fund. There will also be an Arts & Science Display focused on Dark Age era arts and sciences (half page documentation appreciated), to be included in a post-event article.

All Artisans, All Youth Artisans, Hail thee!
The Dark Ages Skóla will be hosting an A&S Display and Youth A&S Tournament. With only four more weeks to go, it is time to shrug off that Pennsic glow and start on your next best project!

The Youth A&S Tournament will be held in the back of the common room. Please drop off your entry and documentation in the morning for display during the day. At the end of the afternoon, before the Silent Auction, please join your entry to show & tell the judges, followed by a most anticipated pick of (donated) gift.

The Dark Age A&S Display will also be held in the back of the common room. Please drop off and display in the morning, to pick up at closing. We would love to see your Dark Age inspired (work-in-progress) projects, but honestly, anything goes :)

Directions to First Presbyterian Church of Ithaca at 315 N. Cayuga Street, Ithaca, NY 14850 [NOTE SITE CHANGE]:

Take best route to NY-13 in the city of Ithaca. Turn onto West Court Street (Turn left if traveling south; turn right if traveling north). Drive 1/2 mile to North Cayuga St. The Church is on the corner in front of you, on your right. Park on Cayuga or Court Street.

Parking:
There are three lots for parking - the first is down an alley directly behind the church - this lot is for handicapped and teachers with a ton to offload only - you MUST contact the autocrat if you need one of these spaces.
Second lot is right next door and is marked for the First Baptist Church but we are free to use it.
Third lot entrance is just one building over next to the Old jail and behind the courthouse. It is marked restricted, but it is only restricted on weekdays so we are free to use it.
All three lots are off Court street. Also there is a ton of street parking and Sat is free - so DONT feed the meters!
