XXVIIIth Myrkfaelinn Summer War Practice
June 18, 19, and 20, 2010
Barton Boy Scout Camp, Frontenac Rd (off Rt 89) Trumansburg, NY
Sharpen your weapons and see to your armour, war is on our doorstep! Join us at the scenic Camp Barton (9640 Frontenac Rd, Trumansburg, NY 14886) for our annual war practice.
Come ready for a day full of armoured melee combat. Come for fencing. Come for the Kingdom Thrown Weapons Championship. Come for the classes including Lord Gavin Kent's class on campfire cooking, Lady Muirreann's presentation on period cosmetics or the period dyeing workshop being run by Lydia. Come for tales around the campfire and good times with friends old and new.
The gate fee for this event shall be $7 for adults, $3 for children 6-17 years of age free for children 5 and under. This price includes a fighter-friendly sideboard lunch and charcoal for cooking your dinner should you need it. There is an additional camping fee of $3 per person for all guests staying overnight on Friday or Saturday. A student discount of $1 may be claimed with a valid student ID. Family cap is $32. The $3 Non-Member Surcharge applies to all guests who cannot provide proof of membership. The only good reservation is a paid reservation, so make your checks out to SCA Inc.-Dominion of Myrkfaelinn and send them to the autocrat. The autocrat is Iain mac an Bhaird (Jonthan Baird, 305 Blackstone Ave., Ithaca, NY 14850, 607-257-4594 no calls after 9pm, iain@tigerfire.net) and he will be happy to address any of your questions regarding this event.
The site is DRY, so please leave the alcohol at home. The site is not noted as being very handicapped-accessible, though the restrooms are. Shower facilities are available. No pets are allowed except for guide dogs.
The site opens at 6:00pm on Friday, June 18th and those who have not cleared out by noon on Sunday, the 20th will be pressganged into the cleaning crews.
Merchants are welcome, but must provide their own tables and there is no indoor space available.
Directions: From the South and East, make your way to Ithaca and head north on Rt 89. Approximately 3/4 mile after Taughannock Falls State Park, take a right on Frontenac Road at the SCA and Camp Barton signs.
From the North and West, take Rt 90 (Thruway) to exit 42. Head south on Rt 96 to Interlaken. Take a left on Cayuga Street/Rt 141 for approx 3/4 mile. Take a right onto Rt 89 and head south for approx 6 miles. Take a left onto Frontenac Rd.
